No pics today as on scoring duties. Moorside won the toss and elected to bat. 1-6, 2-10, 3-33, 4-50 5-51, 6-80 and all the while Gerrie was watching from the other end. Pip Taylor, returning after only playing the friendly, stayed with the pro and they steadied the ship. They put on 44 before Pip was out caught off the Royton Pro's bowling. Little else troubled the scoring except G-Man who scored 86 from 90 balls with 13 4's and 1 six. 142 all out with 13 overs left. Pie and chips for tea, still it was a chilly day.
Basically Royton were 111-4 after 20 overs and cruising. Both openers picked up one wicket each but expensively. Gerrie got some tap, as they say, and was taken off after 4 overs at 7 a piece. Meanwhile Immy had taken root at the opposite end from the scoreboard and fell into a good line and length almost immediately. Ronnie Venger replaced Gerrie and the spin-twins did their bit. The crucial wicket was to catch the Pro on the boundary (Sneeky) of Ron's bowling. The Pro was clearly not amused as he started to claim a no-ball.... as well as being a remarkable batsman he seems to have developed helicopter vision. Anyway the Royton resistance was broken - they fell 10 runs short of the target. Immy 5/25 from 11.3 and Ron Avenger 3/21 from 8 overs. Never say die....remarkable!
