Immy finds his batting boots again!

A chilly overcast day and only a few pics from me as it was too cold to sit outside for long and David "Bailey" Bowerman was scoring again due to cry-offs leaving Renegade playing for the 1st XI. We welcomed Agha Salman (the pro at Eagley in the Bolton League) today as Deputy Pro, covering for Hodders after his ankle bone hairline fracture down at Heyside last week. Skipper, Danny Anchor was also unavailable (wedding, no not his, he's already married); Sneaky was working, Jagster was still sunning himself in Tenerife though requesting match updates every five minutes. However, the "Warbymeister" was back to strengthen further, an already strong bowling attack. Swampy skippered the side and lost the toss, so Hollinwood decided to bat.
Skipper Abid's policy is to bat to avoid long run chases, however on this occasion it began to look like the other way round as openers Warby and JT struggled to make an impact. It took a couple of bowling changes to introduce the spinners before things started to happen for the 'side. Immy struck first with an LBW to remove opener Hashid before he followed up again to see the other opener Rizwan caught behind by stand-in 'keeper Bainsey. 75/2 soon became 105/5 and with only 22 runs added for the last 5 wickets, Hollinwood were all out for 144. Immy picked up another 5 for, Sully (Agha) 2 for 27 from 7, Tommy mopped up the tail with 3 for 15 from 7 and Warby returned to pick up 2 for 32 from 13.
Swampy and Tommy opened but a rush of blood saw Tommy in the shed in the first over. Swampy played a great knock of to pull the momentum back before he missed one on 49 runs off 41 balls. Another 50 avoidance fine methinks. Sully chipped in with 23 from 35 before he was out caught and the 'side on 86/3. Immy and Bainsey saw things home, quite easily, with Immy scoring quickly (27 from 32) and with Bainsey in at 5 to allow for wicket-keeping duties, he too was not out on 34. Hopefully back to a full strength side away against Micklehurst next week.
