1st XI v Stayley 16th July 2016

So here we were again. Damp with rain falling on Thursday and Friday and drizzle on Saturday morning. Wicket covered and pretty dry but outfield and square a bit soggy. The Bowdrys were out and suffice to say that a late start was inevitable. Stayley won the toss and elected to take the field. At 15:01 precisely the match started reduced to 37 overs per side. Rick Baines and the Jagster put on 56 for the first wicket, Bainsey out for 23 from 42. 7 runs later Jack got shaped to flick the ball down the leg side and was given out LBW. Even from backward square this looked a bad one! Meanwhile Hodders at no. 3 was joined by Swampy and they put on 47 in pretty rapid time until Rick was bowled by pro Hamza Nadeem. Not many overs left so Hodders started to crack it his 35 came from 47. Better still skipper Danny's 34 came form only 27 deliveries. Then it started to drizzle a bit so tea was taken. Not much more happened and 178 for 5 looked "something to bowl at". Stayley lost their first wicket at 11 a fine gully/backward point catch from Rick Baines off JT's bowling.
