Extras top scored for Moorside!

Cool and cloudy day at Holebottom Clough but a decent crew of Shaw cricket wise-men were giving a helpful running commentary from the green decking as we sat below at pitch level. Danny was in the process of driving back from Cornwall (never an easy journey at the best of times) so Hodders was acting skipper. He won the toss and elected to bat, reverting to the fairly normal order of Immy and Jack opening. Scorer-Renegade had to stand in for Sneaky who had developed the club-foot equivalent of a hand and was dispatched to A&E before the start, so it wasn't the strongest XI ever with Rick Baines under the knife, Glenn Mac babysitting, Danny stuck on the M5 and Warby still nursing his groin back to fitness. 11-1, 25-2 with Immy and Jack out. Hodders and Swampy put on just short of 50 before Swampy was bowled for 8 and the aforementioned wafted at a half volley and edged to slip. Enter Tommy "blue-helmet" Mashiane who looked to have a 50 nailed on until he decided to try a reverse-sweep to the slow leftie (Pro) Ceph Zhuwao and was adjudged LBW. Lloyd and Fiaz didn't trouble the scorer (golden for Fiaz). Antonio Redmondo hung around for 10 with a couple of swatted fours and that was that. 100 with the bat and 39 extras , 31 of which were wides.
Shaw scored quickly reaching 54 for 2 in 6 overs and then Immy and JT were introduced to the attack and both bowled superbly. Immy got a bit of tap from Ceph the Pro but once he bowled him with one that looked to go on with the arm, the Shaw commentary team above said "we've had it now". 2nd XI skipper Richard Doherty had been drafted in to play on the ones and he ended up being M-o-M for Shaw with 4 for 44 and 21 valuable runs at no 10. Moorside managed 26 extras but Shaw were all-out of 120 with JT finishing on 4 for 14 from 8 overs and Tommy came back to finish off the innings dismissing Drew Fullalove with a catch for the Jagster. Tommy had pulled off another direct hit run-out earlier and also picked up a catch which, with his 37 runs, just shaded JT for the Moorside M-o-M.
Sorry no piccies today as Dave the camera was drafted in to score.
