After a great win at Royton, the 1st XI returned home for the second fixture of the weekend v Friarmere. Swampy won the toss and chose to bat. Again the duck suit was out for Jack G and he was soon joined out for 9 by Danny. In form skipper Rick H was joined by Gerrie the Pro and with a century plus partnership things settled to 141-3 with G-man out for 55 from 56 balls. Swampy continued with Immy and then was out caught behind for 68. Immy cut loose with a quick 35 from 33 and Ronnie Venger kicked in with 36 from the same number. A quick slog at the end from Drew and it was 244 all out with one over left.
Two quick wickets left Friarmere on 26/2. A 50 partnership carried them to 78/3. At some point soon the rain came and the covers were on. Under the Weather time system five overs were lost and the target reduced. The innings looked dead until skipper Qayyum decided to have a swing and only went with the score on 170/6 chasing a revised 225. Swampy tried to break things up by reverting to seam with Jack G whose 2 overs cost 22 runs, so plan B came in with Ron Avenger and his Heinz 7 varieties of spin. The left-hander swung across the line and smacked him for a six and four before Qayyum was stumped by Pip T. Needing 23 off the last two overs was too much and Friarmere finished the innings on 207/8 from 45.
