1st XI v Micklehurst 21-05-2016

Despite appalling weather overnight at 11:00 with the covers on and groundsheets covering the run-ups, the prospects of a start were looking fair. A bit of mopping and a shortened boundary near the pavilion wall should do it. Then it started to rain again! With little prospect of starting looking like "match abandoned". Then around 15:30 it started to ease and eventually stopped. With Bowdry and sawdust featuring heavily a 25 over match was started with Micklehurst batting first. Tommy was switched to the farmhouse end and steamed in with pace. He collected 3 for 18 from his 8 overs, two of which were caught behind by Monksey and the other LBW. Jamie T picked up 1 for 19 from his 8 and Immy 1 for a rather expensive 37 from 5. A run out completed the six wickets for the 97 runs scored from 25 overs. A strange batting order then followed with the theory that those who hadn't batted needed some practice. It almost went t/u at 11-2 before the Jagster and Swampy saw things home with 30 n/o and 55 n/o respectively. A valuable 4 pointer with no-one else apparently starting.
